We invite you to help us achieve our goals and share in our continued successes by making a specific financial contribution to any of the following department funds through the University of Wisconsin – Foundation.

How to Make a Donation
The University of Wisconsin Foundation is the official fund raising and gift receiving organization for the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

All contributions made to the department by private individuals or groups are processed by the UW Foundation. Contributions may be made online or by printing, filling out and mailing a pdf form.

Community and Environmental Sociology Department Fund
(Established July 1987)
Make a donation to the Community and Environmental Sociology Department Fund

Purpose: Unrestricted support for the Department of Community and Environmental Sociology. Gifts to this fund are used at the discretion of the Chair and are directed to where the need is greatest.

Frederick H. Buttel Fund
(Established January 2005)
Make a donation to the Frederick H. Buttel Fund

Purpose: Fund supports the recruitment and retention of outstanding scholars through a named Professorship, to be known as the Buttel-Sewell Professorship.

Evelyn T. Crowe Scholarship Fund
(Established July 1986)
Make a donation to the Evelyn T. Crowe Scholarship Fund

Purpose: Fund provides financial awards to Community and Environmental Sociology students in the areas of:
Participation in professional meetings
Pre-dissertation research
Undergraduate research
Outstanding academic achievement by a senior.

Archibald O. Haller Lecture Fund
(Established October 1998)
Make a donation to the Archibald O. Haller fund

Purpose: Fund supports the Haller Distinguished Lectureship Series.

A. Eugene Havens Memorial Fund
(Established March 1987)
Make a donation to the A. Eugene Havens Memorial Fund

Purpose: Fund provides scholarship awards to Community and Environmental Sociology, Sociology, and Development Studies graduate students from developing countries.

Doris P. Slesinger Lecture Fund
(Established November 2007)
Make a donation to the Doris P. Slesinger Lecture Fund

Purpose: Fund supports Slesinger Distinguished Lectureship Series.

Dept. of Community and Environmental Sociology Sense of Community Fund
(Established Oct. 2015)
Make a donation to the Department of Community and Environmental Sociology Sense of Community Fund

Purpose: Unrestricted support for the Department of Community and Environmental Sociology. At the discretion of the Department Chair, gifts to this fund support functions related to retirements and any other team or morale building occasion to facilitate the faculty, staff and students functioning as a productive community.

Glenn and Martha Fuguitt Fund
(Established Jan. 2021)
Make a donation to the Glenn and Martha Fuguitt Fund

Purpose: Mr. Glenn Fuguitt wishes to support professional staff development at the Applied Population Lab. The fund shall be used to support the professional development needs of the Applied Population Lab (“APL”). Professional development among staff at the APL may take any number of forms including, but not limited to, professional conference attendance, participation in applied demography training workshops, enrollment in relevant courses offered either at UW or other institutions, and bringing in speakers or other research specialists to campus to share their content area expertise with the APL staff and other UW colleagues.
